There's a lot of buzz in the media about how awful 2016 has been, particularly how it's had more than its fair share of celebrity deaths. But while I'm terribly sad that there won't be any more new Bowie songs, he's left me with plenty of good memories and songs that have become an indelible part of my life soundtrack.
Looking back at the past 12 months, I've seen just how much good there was mixed in with the difficult times. It reminds me of a church sermon from my childhood which compared life to Licorice Allsorts, long before I heard Forrest Gump's 'box of chocolates' analogy.
And while some people might dismiss the dark licorice layers because they don't like the taste, it would be foolish to dismiss the difficult times in life, thinking that they serve no purpose. There's always a lesson that can be learned from adversity, even if we sometimes have to look pretty darn hard to find it.
But this isn't a post on adversity, rather it's about celebrating the good things. #ShareGoodness if you will.
So for my final post in 2016, I've written a list of 15 Reasons I'm Grateful for 2016 on my personal Facebook page, which you can find HERE. It's been an eye-opening exercise for me and I'm grateful to my friend and fellow photographer Bradford for his #endofyeargratitudechallenge
Have a good one and I'll see you next year!
