November 23, 2017 Kaylene Fister
LupinBay-Jack-Russell-Dog-Photography-0152-4966.jpg

It's funny how sometimes you do a thing that ends up showing you exactly what your friends think of you.  It happened to me recently with the whole citronella dog collar fiasco.

Snuggle Between the Pages of a Rabbit Tale: World Book Day 2017

March 2, 2017 Kaylene Fister

Have you ever read a book that was so captivating you felt you were truly there?  In my case it happened when I was 9 years old, sitting under the weeping cherry tree on a hot summer's day, or sneakily pulling the curtain back and reading late into the night by the neighbour's porch light.

What's All the Fuss About?

If you take a stroll through my website, odds are that sooner or later you'll click on the About page.  But you're not going to find anything about my photography education, because I'm pretty sure you're more interested in what I can do for your pets.

January 6, 2017 Kaylene Fister

It’s always like this:  they come to my clinic, frightened, hurting, hoping beyond hope that I can make things better.  And I do, but not always how they would like.

2016 - My Best Year Yet

December 29, 2016 Kaylene Fister

There's a lot of buzz in the media about how awful 2016 has been, particularly how it's had more than its fair share of celebrity deaths.  But while I'm terribly sad that there won't be any more new Bowie songs, he's left me...

What Price an Animal's Life?

December 12, 2016 Kaylene Fister

Animal shelters around the world are home-away-from-home not just to our furred and feathered friends, but also to a bunch of hard-working, big-hearted people.

Your Pet and Fireworks

October 25, 2016 Kaylene Fister
LupinBay Pet Portraits Golden Retriever Dog

One of my favourite celebration days is Guy Fawkes Day.  I've always loved watching the pretty displays and hearing the booms - especially the mortars you can get in the USA for Independence Day:  they're enough to wake the neighbours.  So I'm told...  But what about our furbabies?

October 18, 2016 Kaylene Fister
LupinBay Kids' Photography Camp

We were short on attendees for photo camp in the September-October school holidays; one of the kids had to go out of town at the last minute - and he's now pre-registered for the next workshop.  Even though spring had officially begun, it sure didn't seem that way but...

Changing Mindsets - Dealing with Chronic Illness

August 30, 2016 Kaylene Fister
LupinBay_Geranium-5504.jpg

It's been nearly 10 months since I was officially declared free of scleromyxedema - long enough for a new me to be born (or a renewal of the old me), but some days the mindset of 14 years still holds on.

August 19, 2016 Kaylene Fister
LupinBay_0099_Soup_Day_Havelock_North-8257

It's a soggy day in Havelock North but the locals still ventured out-of-doors with the promise of free soup: a truckload donated by Hastings' own Wattie's.  Given the recent problems with the contaminated water supply, it's nice to have a kind gesture come our way.

July 5, 2016 Kaylene Fister
Rocky Snow Igloo.jpg

We had a big scare one morning last month: Rocket couldn't stand or walk properly.  He lay down on his tummy to eat, with his front legs splayed out to the sides like wings.  It was horrible and we were scared for our poor guy.  But don't worry, there's a happy ending.
